Best OSRS Money Making Methods 2025

Looking to grow your gold pile in Old School RuneScape? This guide covers the best money making methods in 2025, organized by skill level. Whether you are a new player with no requirements or a maxed main looking for the highest GP/hr, there is a method here for you.

Low-Level Methods (No Requirements)

These methods require little to no stats and can be done on a fresh account. They are perfect for building up your initial cash stack to fund better money makers later.

Tanning Cowhides (300k-500k GP/hr)

Buy cowhides on the Grand Exchange, run to a tanner (Al Kharid or the Crafting Guild), and tan them into leather or hard leather. Sell the tanned hides back on the GE for a profit. This method has no skill requirements and scales well with capital. Check our Tan Leather Calculator for live profit margins on all hide types.

Making Unfinished Potions (200k-400k GP/hr)

Buy clean herbs and vials of water, combine them into unfinished potions, and sell them back on the GE. This requires no Herblore level — just clicking. Ranarr and Toadflax unfinished potions tend to be the most profitable. Check our Herblore Calculator for current margins.

Collecting Items (100k-300k GP/hr)

Some items spawn in the game world and can be picked up for free. Collecting steel platebodies from the Wilderness, picking up wines of Zamorak at the temple, or looting items from the Wilderness can net you decent starter cash. These methods are slow but require absolutely nothing to start.

Mid-Level Methods (Some Requirements)

Once you have some stats and a bit of starting capital, these methods offer significantly better GP/hr rates.

Blast Furnace (800k-1.5m GP/hr)

The Blast Furnace is one of the best consistent money makers in OSRS. At level 60 Smithing, you can smelt bars using half the normal coal requirement, making steel, mithril, adamantite, and runite bars highly profitable. With a coal bag and ice gloves, experienced players can earn over 1 million GP per hour. See our dedicated Blast Furnace Guide and use the Blast Furnace Calculator for live profit rates.

Cooking Karambwans (300k-500k GP/hr)

At level 30 Cooking (with Tai Bwo Wannai Trio completed), you can cook raw karambwans into cooked karambwans. Karambwans are popular combo food for PvP and PvM, so demand is always high. Use the Hosidius kitchen for a reduced burn rate. Check our Cooking Calculator for current profit per karambwan.

Herb Runs (500k-1m GP/hr effective)

Farming herbs is one of the best passive money makers in the game. With 9 herb patches available (more with diary rewards), a single herb run takes about 5 minutes and can net 100k-200k GP. You can do a herb run every 80 minutes, making the effective GP/hr extremely high for the time invested. Ranarr, Snapdragon, and Torstol are typically the most profitable herbs.

High-Level Methods (Advanced Requirements)

These are the top-tier money makers in OSRS. They require high combat stats, expensive gear, or significant quest completion, but the rewards are substantial.

Raids: Chambers of Xeric and Theatre of Blood (3m-8m GP/hr)

Raids are the highest consistent money makers in OSRS. Chambers of Xeric (CoX) offers valuable drops like the Twisted Bow and Dragon Claws, while Theatre of Blood (ToB) drops include the Scythe of Vitur and Avernic Defender. The average GP/hr depends heavily on unique drop rates and team size. Solo CoX experienced raiders can average 3-5m GP/hr, while efficient ToB teams can exceed 6-8m GP/hr. Use our Raids Calculator to estimate your expected loot.

Vorkath (2m-4m GP/hr)

Vorkath is one of the most popular money-making bosses in OSRS. After completing Dragon Slayer II, you can fight this boss for consistent loot averaging 150k-200k GP per kill. With a Dragon Hunter Crossbow or Dragon Hunter Lance, experienced players can get 25-30 kills per hour. Vorkath is loved for its consistency — unlike raids, every single kill gives valuable loot.

Grand Exchange Flipping (Variable — 1m-10m+ GP/hr)

GE flipping scales with your bank size. With 10m GP you might make 200k-500k per cycle, but with 500m+ you can make tens of millions daily with minimal effort. The best part is that flipping is entirely passive — you can flip while doing other activities. Read our full Flipping Guide and use the Flip Finder to get started.

Passive Money Making

Passive methods let you earn GP while doing other things. These are some of the best ways to make money without actively grinding.

GE Flipping While Training

Always have your GE slots active while doing other activities. Set buy and sell offers before heading to Slayer, training skills, or doing quests. Over time this adds up to millions in extra profit. Use our Flip Finder to find items with good margins and fill your GE slots before starting any session.

Nightmare Zone Herb Boxes

You can buy up to 15 herb boxes per day from the Nightmare Zone shop for 9,500 points each. Each box contains herbs worth roughly 10k-12k GP, netting you about 150k-180k GP daily with just a few minutes of effort. You earn NMZ points passively while training combat. Check our NMZ Calculator for current herb box values.

Managing Miscellania

After completing Throne of Miscellania (and Royal Trouble for maximum benefit), you can passively earn resources worth 100k-200k GP per day. Put workers on herbs and hardwood trees for the best returns. This requires minimal upkeep — just maintain your approval rating and collect resources every few days.

Daily Money Makers

Daily activities are tasks you can do once per day (or at set intervals) for reliable income. They take just a few minutes but add up to millions per week.

  • Herb boxes (NMZ): 15 per day, roughly 150k-180k daily profit.
  • Battlestaves (Varrock Diary): Buy discounted battlestaves from Zaff daily. With the hard diary, you can buy 60 per day for 7,000 GP each and sell on the GE for significant profit.
  • Kingdom of Miscellania: Collect resources every few days for 100k-200k daily profit.
  • Herb runs: 5-6 runs per day at 100k-200k each = 500k-1.2m daily.
  • Birdhouse runs: Every 50 minutes, takes 2 minutes, gives Hunter XP and bird nests worth 30k-50k per run.

Combining all daily activities can net you 1-2 million GP per day with less than 30 minutes of total effort. This is an excellent baseline income that every player should take advantage of.
